Services: Keystone meets year-round, with holiday breaks and staff training dates. Half-day and full-day programs are available depending on the age and need of the child. Initial assessments include the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills—Revised (ABLLS-R). All intervention strategies utilize the research-based principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), including Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT), task analyses, and incidental teaching procedures in the natural environment. Data is collected to make program/intervention decisions. Children primarily receive services in a 1:1 teaching setting, with staff rotation to encourage generalization. Some short group activities, with ratios between 1:2 and 2:4 are also included. Training: The purpose of implementing a behavioral and/or academic intervention is to effect a change in behavior that will have socially significant benefits for the child and their family. An assessment of treatment integrity is necessary to determine whether the treatment was implemented as intended. At Keystone this is accomplished through frequent training opportunities for staff implementing the interventions, weekly meetings to discuss the treatment and progress of the child, and frequent observations of treatment implementation to ensure consistency across staff members. Keystone will also provide parent training workshops, parent conferences, and questionnaires to determine whether the intervention’s effectiveness is generalized to the home. Parent Training: Parent training is a critical component for generalizing skills to all environments. Keystone staff, including Ph.D. and M.Ed. level Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), provide ongoing parent training—a portion of which is required to maintain a student’s enrollment—and individual in-home training as needed. Parents are encouraged to observe in the classroom on a regular basis and to participate in decision-making processes about the progress of treatment. |
